On May 29, 2026, the High Country Scottish Rite Club held its Inaugural Meeting at Snow Lodge #363 in Boone, North Carolina. This gathering marked a significant milestone for Scottish Rite impact in the region, drawing 34 attendees from across the High Country and representing members from the Valleys of Winston-Salem, Asheville, Fayetteville, New Bern, and Greensboro.

Continuing a shared commitment to fellowship and the guiding principles of the Scottish Rite Snow Lodge #363, nestled in Boone's historic scenic surroundings, provided a welcoming and accessible venue for the event. Members and guests arrived early, exchanging greetings and stories.

Freemasonry has been a part of Watauga County since 1867. Annually in September, the Valley of Winston-Salem and Asheville have their stated meetings at Snow Lodge while also visiting AppState locations and the local impact of RiteCare SRCLP of NC charities.

With the aid of Illustrious Kirby Matthews, 33° Personal Representative of the Valley of Winston-Salem, the meeting was called to order by the newly elected president, Alex Edmisten, 32° KCCH. The agenda included introductions, establishment of bylaws, and discussions about future objectives. Vice President Kenny Allen, 32° KCCH, Secretary Joe Slade, 32° KCCH, and Treasurer Illustrious Bill Carter, 33°, assumed their roles as officers for 2026-2027, committing to lead the club with enthusiasm and integrity. We emphasized unity, education, and charitable outreach, inviting members to participate actively in shaping the club's future.

15 Scottish Rite brothers joined the High Country Scottish Rite Club and several local Blue Lodge Masons were in attendance, and will be petitioning for the upcoming October Reunion for the Valley of Winston-Salem.

The club donated canned goods and coloring books to Appalachian State University for the benefit of their student food pantry and the Pat Anderson Reading Clinic, demonstrating a continued commitment to community service and outreach.

As the meeting concluded, participants expressed optimism about the club's potential to strengthen local Freemasonry and serve the wider community. The next meeting is scheduled for Friday July 31st at 6:30pm.

The first meeting of the High Country Scottish Rite Club, was an inspiring launch, laying the foundation for enduring fellowship, education, and outreach.
